I love to see my flower beds packed with Tulips, Daffodils, & Hyacinths. However, to enjoy these early Spring flowers you have to plant now. Fall planting of bulbs can be a lot of work, but the bulbs bloom every year & the work is worth it.
I planted bulbs last fall when I first moved into my new home. Here's a picture of my flower bed. It's a good start but I have 60 new bulbs to plant this weekend to make it even a better show next Spring.

The Barnegat Bay Partnership developed the Jersey-Friendly Yards web site as a comprehensive online resource for environmentally friendly landscaping in NJ. The goal of Jersey-Friendly Yards is clean water for drinking, swimming, fishing & wildlife and a healthier environment for everyone.
The web site offers so much information, from an interactive tool to transform your yard to a Jersey-Friendly Yard, a Jersey-Friendly plant database & where-to-buy resource, and information about the threat to our bays & rivers.
Check out their web site at http://www.jerseyyards.org/ and follow them on Facebook
We had a great showing on Friday the 16th - so many members of the club came to help out planting kales & mums at the Rt. 70 flower beds. There were 200 red & 200 white kales to plant - whew!! But it all got done. Check out our pictures on the Photo page.
Many thanks to everyone who helped!!

What’s Halloween without a carved pumpkin, some apples and a few ghostly-looking trees and shrubs backlit by a full moon? We all know what Oct. 31st is meant to look like, but if you really want to shock the kids this holiday, tell them that plants are more historically linked to Halloween than a bag of candy. Some fruits, herbs, trees and vegetables were even thought to have magical properties. (How many chocolate bars can do that?)
